Woza Friday | Five Things I'm Grateful For

Expressing gratitude for the things that brought me joy this week
Life is full of bliss. My life isn't what I want it to be right now because of circumstances outside of my control. The world isn't so perfect either. It's easy to focus on the negativity and turn a blind eye to life's blessings. I've made a conscious effort to shift my focus to things that bring me joy and comfort. This week, I'm especially grateful for these five things:

  1. Meditation - In moments when I'm distressed and can't do anything, I'm so happy I can take some time to sit with myself and relax. Meditation allows me to process my feelings and helps me de-stress.
  2. Picnics in the Park - on Wednesday, I went on a lovely picnic with the beau. We cooked ourselves a nice dinner, picked up a nice bottle of wine, and ventured out. We encountered a lovely surprise when we got to the park - live Latin jazz (with a few hundred other people). Our date turned out to be more magical than we planned for and for that I am grateful.
  3. Family - I got some much-needed family time last weekend. Being by so much love, laughter, and hugs brought me back into myself. I've been so anxious and lonely lately that I needed to a reminder of all the love in my life. I am loved and am not alone.
  4. Introspection - A therapist once told me that introspection is blessing and a curse. This week, it's been a blessing. I've been doing a lot of soul-searching lately (as always) and lately some things are becoming abundantly clear to me. What is for me will be mine. I just have to trust, be patient, and honor my feelings.
  5. Gluten-free bagels - I discovered a brand of Nanju-safe bagels that don't taste terrible. Sure, they don't taste like the real thing, but they're a great substitute. Since I'm trying not to cheat anymore, they take care of the craving.

What're you grateful for?
