Woza Friday Five | June 10, 2016

Welcome to Woza Friday Five! This is a weekly list series of things I enjoyed/experienced/thought about/felt etc. It's my version of 5 Things Friday. Here's what rocked my world this week:
  1. The "here and now": I'm preparing for a major life change and I'm freaking out. There's so much to do and to prepare for. The tangible things require lots of planning and endless to-do/to-buy lists. My emotions are also all over the place. Small reminders to practice being present and gratitude have been popping up everywhere. This quote has been a lighthouse:
  2. Yoga: My yoga practice is evolving. I started practising yoga for as a physical workout. I didn't expect to find any mindfulness, but that's exactly what I found. Poses that were once torture are now places of comfort and meditation. As soon as I settle into a pose, I let go of the physical sensations and draw inward to give myself a mental and emotional check in. Bring on the healing!
  3. Yarn braids: Late last Saturday, I felt the impulse to change my hair. So, I got my stuff together and started installing my yarn braids. They're smaller and shorter than my go-to style, but I'm falling in love with the look!
  4. Reading! I've always been a voracious reader, but school changed my habits. I've been getting back into regular reading and have a growing reading list. I just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns. Up next is The Unbearable Lightness of Being, then Questions for Ada, then Around the World in 80 Days.
  5. Gold nail polish: My nail polish choices sometimes catch me off guard. I usually stick to dark colors but somehow end up with the occasional burst of color. I've been wearing gold on my toes for two weeks. I didn't think I'd last a day, but laziness struck. The brightness has grown on me.
